I am interested in exploring microRNAs in spinal facet joint (FJ) osteoarthritis (OA) using human samples and animal spine FJ OA model.
My current research focuses on:

  • Creating a unique biobank of facet joints and blood with varying degrees of facet cartilage degeneration from patients with lumbar disc herniation and patients with lumbar spinal canal stenosis

  • Identifying miRNAs as markers of facet cartilage degeneration

  • Studying the role of miRNAs as potential therapeutic targets to stop facet cartilage degeneration
